Borno State, Nigeria – In a major security success, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have rescued 12 kidnap victims, including seven women and five children, from Boko Haram terrorists in the Mandara Mountains.

The victims, who were abducted along the Gwoza–Limankara road on November 14, were freed on Sunday, December 1, following a coordinated clearance operation known as Operation Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search.

The mission was executed by the 26 Task Force Brigade in collaboration with hybrid forces, local hunters, and vigilantes. Troops launched an early morning offensive along the Mandara Mountain foothills up to Uvaha, engaging the insurgents with heavy firepower, forcing them to abandon the captives and flee.

The rescued victims, initially scattered into nearby bushes during the exchange of fire, later made their way to the road and were taken to the brigade’s field ambulance for medical attention. Many suffered blisters and injuries, with some women reporting severe beatings during captivity.

The women rescued have been identified as Fadi Musa, Jummai Manga, Hamsatu Musa, Jummai Ali, Inna Amadu, Falmata Musa, and Hadiza Hamman, alongside five children. After receiving treatment and meals, the victims were handed over to the Gwoza Local Government Area representative for reunification with their families.

This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of Nigerian security forces to combat insurgency, protect civilians, and restore safety to affected communities in Borno State.

Victory for humanity in the Mandara Mountains! 12 kidnapped women and children rescued from Boko Haram’s clutches – a testament to the bravery and determination of our troops.

"As Nigeria continues the fight against insurgency, operations like this highlight the unwavering commitment of our security forces to protect lives and restore hope to vulnerable communities. Every rescue counts, and the Mandara Mountains operation is a reminder that courage and strategy save lives.
