Victoria Island, Lagos – December 1, 2025 – The Lagos Culture Week opened on Monday at Juicy Lagos, Victoria Island, drawing government officials, dignitaries, and cultural enthusiasts to celebrate the rich heritage and creative talent of the state. This year’s edition, themed “Empowering Local Creatives, Enriching Lagos Culture,” marks the official curtain-raiser for the Detty December festive season.
The event, attended by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, Permanent Secretary Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, and Directors of the Ministry, showcased Lagos’ diverse cultural expressions through music, art exhibitions, indigenous performances, and interactive sessions. Guests were treated to a vivid display of the sights, sounds, and tastes that make Lagos a global cultural hub.
Government officials emphasized the strategic role of cultural tourism in strengthening the local creative economy. The event highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting local creatives, boosting cultural tourism, and positioning Lagos as the preferred holiday and entertainment destination during the festive season.
The festival also sent a clear message to residents and visitors alike: “SEE LAGOS, SEE CULTURE!” – reinforcing the city’s ambition to blend tradition, creativity, and tourism in a way that uplifts both local talent and the state’s economy.
