Security operations in Anambra State recorded a major breakthrough on Wednesday as Operation Udo Ga Chi successfully dismantled a criminal group that had been terrorizing Ihite community and nearby areas in Orumba South Local Government Area.
According to local security sources, the team engaged the suspects in a coordinated raid that led to the neutralization of several members of the gang. During the operation, two men who claimed to be members of the “Biafra Liberation Army” attempted to escape but were apprehended after a hot chase along the Ogbunka–Umunze road.
The arrested suspects were identified as indigenes of the South East—one from Anambra State and the other from Ebonyi State—contrary to assumptions that the attackers were outsiders.
Community members have commended the swift response by the security outfit, noting that the operation has restored a sense of calm to the area. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, stressing that Anambra State has zero tolerance for criminal activities.
Further investigations into the suspects’ activities and affiliations are ongoing.
