Asaba, Delta State — The Delta State Police Command has achieved a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime, successfully rescuing three abducted victims, apprehending a suspected kidnapper, and recovering a firearm following a coordinated operation in Issele‑Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area.

The incident began after a kidnapping report was received at the Issele‑Uku Police Division on 16th March 2026, prompting immediate action. The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Aderemi Badiru, mobilised a joint security team that included police officers, military personnel, local vigilante groups, and hunters to conduct a search‑and‑rescue mission in the bushland where the suspects were believed to be hiding.

The operation led to a confrontation with the armed kidnappers, resulting in a gunfight. One of the suspected kidnappers was fatally wounded during the encounter, while the three abducted victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.

During the search, authorities arrested Ahmadu Hassan, a 22‑year‑old male from Kange Village in Awe Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, who sustained gunshot injuries during the operation. A thorough combing of the area also led to the recovery of one AK‑47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.

Another suspected kidnapper who was injured in the gunfight later died, and his body was deposited in a mortuary. The injured suspect, Hassan, is receiving medical treatment under police custody, and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest other members of the fleeing syndicate as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, commended the professionalism, bravery, and coordination displayed by all security operatives involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state and urged residents to continue providing credible information to assist security agencies in preventing crime.

This operation is part of a series of ongoing initiatives by the Delta State Police Command to combat kidnapping and violent crime. Past operations have resulted in multiple arrests of suspects and recovery of firearms, demonstrating the command’s resolve to secure communities across the state.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that community cooperation is critical for successful security operations and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities. Investigations into the incident remain active, and all additional suspects linked to the syndicate will be pursued and prosecuted according to Nigerian law.

The successful rescue of the victims and neutralization of armed criminals underscores the effectiveness of joint security operations and reinforces public confidence in the state’s commitment to protecting its citizens from violent crime.
