Lafia, Nasarawa State — The Nasarawa State Police Command has intensified operations against criminal activities in the state following the successful recovery of multiple stolen vehicles and the ongoing manhunt for the suspects responsible. These efforts align with directives from the Inspector‑General of Police, Tunji Disu, aimed at decisively combating crime and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Nigeria.
According to an official statement from the Nasarawa State Police Command, the recovered vehicles include a Toyota Camry and a Lexus SUV, both of which had been reported stolen in separate incidents within the state. Police detectives traced the vehicles to an abandoned property on the outskirts of Lafia, where the suspects had reportedly hidden them. Officers secured the site, recovered the vehicles, and conducted forensic examinations to gather evidence that could lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.
While no arrests have been officially announced, the Command confirmed that several suspects remain at large and are being actively pursued. The recovered vehicles were verified against the state’s stolen property registry, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated investigative procedures and timely intelligence gathering.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer emphasised that the IGP’s directive requires proactive policing, and that the recoveries were made possible through coordinated patrols, community collaboration, and strategic operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and provide credible information to assist law enforcement in apprehending suspects.
Community leaders in Lafia and surrounding areas commended the police for their responsiveness and for restoring public confidence in local security measures. Authorities also reminded vehicle owners to adopt preventive measures, including the use of security devices and ensuring proper documentation, to protect their property from opportunistic theft.
The Nasarawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that individuals involved in criminal activity are brought to justice. As investigations continue, the Command has indicated that it will maintain heightened security measures and work closely with communities to prevent further incidents of theft, armed robbery, and other criminal acts.
These operations are part of a broader strategy by the state police to reduce crime rates, enhance public safety, and build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. The ongoing manhunt and recovery of stolen property reflect the authorities’ determination to address organized criminal activity decisively and to safeguard the lives and property of residents throughout Nasarawa State.
