The Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad has dismantled an armed robbery syndicate accused of operating in Kaduna State, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of 10 stolen vehicles.

According to the police account, the suspects were arrested on March 16, 2026, during a targeted operation against the group.

Police identified the principal suspect as Abubakar Musa, 36, described as a former Nigerian Army Corporal who allegedly impersonated a serving soldier after his dismissal. Investigators said he used the false identity to move stolen vehicles, avoid suspicion, and coordinate the activities of the group.

The other suspects in custody were named as Hassan Umar and Joshua Raphael.

During the operation, officers recovered 10 vehicles believed to have been stolen. The vehicles include Toyota Hilux trucks, a Toyota Corolla, a Pontiac Vibe GT, a Honda vehicle, a Lexus, and a Toyota RAV4.

Police said some of the recovered vehicles had altered or removed registration numbers in an apparent attempt to conceal their ownership and frustrate identification.

Authorities added that the recovered vehicles represent major personal and economic losses to their owners, many of whom are expected to begin identification and recovery processes through the relevant channels.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to face prosecution. Police also said efforts are ongoing to arrest other persons believed to be connected to the syndicate.

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the officers involved in the operation, praising their planning and execution. He said the outcome demonstrates continued pressure on criminal networks across the country.

No further court details had been announced at the time of reporting.
