Two persons have been abducted by suspected armed bandits in Odo-Eri community, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, in a fresh attack that has heightened security concerns in the area.
The victims were identified by community sources as Deji Ajigbewu, said to be from Okoto area of Odo-Eri, and Abayomi Oloniyo Odole, also a resident of the community.
According to local accounts, the incident occurred during the evening hours when armed men reportedly invaded the area and forcefully took the two victims away to an unknown destination.
The latest abduction comes less than 48 hours after three other persons were reportedly kidnapped in the same community, indicating a pattern of repeated attacks that has unsettled residents.
Community members said fear has spread across Odo-Eri and surrounding areas as families worry about safety and movement, especially during evening hours.
Residents have called for urgent intervention by security agencies and stronger protection measures in Yagba West and other vulnerable parts of Kogi State.
As of the time of reporting, there was no official statement yet from the Kogi State Police Command or other security authorities regarding the latest incident.
Kidnappings for ransom and armed attacks have remained a security challenge in parts of North Central Nigeria, with rural communities often calling for quicker response capacity and sustained patrol presence.
