A woman abducted from Kasuwan Magani community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State has returned home after five months in captivity, during which she was confirmed to be pregnant following her release.

The information was disclosed by media commentator Reuben Buhari, who shared details of the incident on social media, stating that the victim was among four people kidnapped from her home while she was caring for her sick mother.

According to Buhari’s account, the abduction occurred when armed men invaded the residence and took the victims away. He stated that the woman spent approximately five months in captivity in a forested area, where she reportedly endured harsh conditions including hunger, illness, and repeated physical abuse.

Her release, according to the account, took place after a ransom was paid by the victims’ families. The exact amount paid was not independently verified in the report.

Following her release, she was taken to a medical facility for examination. Buhari stated that medical checks confirmed she was pregnant as a result of the abuse suffered during her captivity.

He further reported that the woman had expressed a desire to terminate the pregnancy, but medical personnel advised against the procedure at the time due to her weakened condition. According to him, doctors prioritized stabilising her health, including administering treatment and blood transfusions.

The victim is also reported to be receiving treatment for additional health complications, including swelling in her feet, which developed during her prolonged period of captivity in difficult conditions.

Reuben Buhari described her physical and emotional condition as severe, noting that she remains under medical care as she continues to recover from the ordeal.

Authorities in Kaduna State have not yet issued an official statement on the specific case at the time of reporting. However, kidnapping for ransom remains a persistent security challenge in parts of northern Nigeria, including rural communities in Kaduna State, where armed groups frequently target residents and travellers.

Kasuwan Magani and surrounding areas in Kajuru Local Government Area have previously experienced incidents of abduction, prompting repeated calls from residents for improved security presence and rapid response operations.

The case adds to a series of reported kidnappings in Kaduna State in recent months,    some of which have involved prolonged captivity and ransom negotiations between families and armed groups.

Security agencies typically state that they are working to combat kidnapping networks through intelligence-led operations, patrols, and coordinated interventions, although many rural communities continue to report vulnerability to attacks.

The victim is currently receiving medical care and support following her release, according to the available account. No further official details have been released regarding the identities of the abductors or whether arrests have been made in connection with the case.
