Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested 10 suspected criminals involved in acts of vandalism, theft, criminal conspiracy, trespass, and receiving stolen property. The arrests followed intelligence-led operations conducted across several locations in the state, including Gwarmai in Ghari Local Government Area, Challawa Industrial Area, Unguwar Rimi, and Waratallawa in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, confirming that the suspects were apprehended during separate coordinated sweeps aimed at dismantling criminal gangs that have been targeting public infrastructure and industrial facilities. “The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has successfully busted and arrested 10 suspected members of criminal gangs linked to offences such as vandalism, theft, criminal conspiracy, trespass, and receiving stolen property,” Abdullahi stated. According to the statement, the suspects were paraded at the command’s headquarters on Tuesday by the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama.

Items recovered from the suspects included approximately 200 metres of aluminium conductor cables, copper wires, mobile phones, power banks, and an assortment of dangerous weapons including knives, cutlasses, swords, and scissors. The command said investigations into the cases had been concluded and that the suspects would soon be charged to court for prosecution. In a separate but related operation earlier in the week, the NSCDC in Kwara State had arrested three men over alleged illegal mining and unlawful transportation of suspected solid minerals in Ilorin.

The Kano commandant, Agalama, reiterated the corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, stressing that the command would maintain zero tolerance for all forms of criminal activity. He urged residents of Kano State to continue providing useful information to security agencies to help curb the growing incidence of vandalism and related offences across the state.
