The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects, comprising eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants, during intensified security operations in Millennium City and Maraban Rido communities of Chikun Local Government Area.
The arrests followed recent security challenges in the affected communities, where police and other security agencies have stepped up patrols, targeted raids and clearance operations to disrupt kidnapping networks.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday, October 12, 2026, saying the operations were conducted in collaboration with other security agencies.
The eight suspected kidnappers were identified as Dauda Murna, Usman Abdullahi, Abubakar Sulaiman, Saleh Abdullahi, Usman Muhammed, Mathias Moses, Makama John and Tafarki Audu.
The four individuals arrested over alleged links to the kidnapping networks were identified as Shuaibu Sabiu, Audu Makama, Simon Moses and Amadu Mathew.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that two of the alleged informants had confessed to leaking information about police operations to criminal elements, potentially undermining security efforts and endangering the lives of security personnel and residents.
The command said investigations were continuing to establish the extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement, identify other accomplices and determine the appropriate legal action.
The police also reported recovering firearms during the operations as part of efforts to disrupt criminal activities in the affected areas.
In a related development, the Kaduna State Government has released three additional armoured personnel carriers to strengthen police operations and improve security coverage in Millennium City and surrounding communities.
The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, also ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles and other security resources to improve surveillance, response times and crime prevention.
The latest measures followed a security engagement held on October 10, 2026, involving a government delegation led by the Chief of Staff to the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Sani Kila, security chiefs, traditional rulers, community members and other stakeholders.
During the engagement, officials emphasised the need for cooperation between residents and security agencies in tackling kidnapping and other crimes.
The police urged residents, community leaders, landlords and youth groups to report suspicious movements and individuals believed to be aiding criminal activities.
The command also appealed for calm and vigilance, assuring residents that operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and facilitating the rescue of kidnapped victims would continue.
The 12 suspects remain subject to investigation, and the allegations against them have not been established by a court.
