The Osun State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s appointment as coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in the state will not guarantee victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party made its position known in a statement signed by its Osun State Chairman, Wale Adebayo, following Adeleke’s inclusion in the revised list of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Presidential Campaign Council released by the APC on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Adeleke was named Osun State Coordinator of the campaign council, a development that has attracted political attention because the governor won his re-election on the platform of the Accord Party rather than the APC.

Reacting to the appointment, Adebayo described it as inconsequential to the APC’s electoral prospects in Osun, arguing that the governor’s new role would not automatically translate into votes for Tinubu.

He maintained that voters in the state would make their choices based on candidates’ performance and personal convictions rather than the names listed in campaign structures.

“His inclusion in the revised APC Presidential Campaign Council list does not guarantee Tinubu’s victory in Osun in the coming general election,” Adebayo said.

The APM chairman added that Osun voters were politically aware and capable of making independent electoral decisions, regardless of the political alignments of prominent officeholders.

He also expressed confidence that opposition parties would remain competitive in the state ahead of the 2027 general election.

Adebayo further claimed that the APM’s presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, would win Osun in the forthcoming election despite Adeleke’s appointment. The statement did not provide evidence to substantiate that prediction.

The development comes as the APC expands its presidential campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general election, appointing several prominent politicians who are not members of the ruling party to coordinate its activities in different states.

Adeleke’s appointment places him at the centre of Tinubu’s re-election mobilisation in Osun, even as political parties continue to position themselves ahead of the contest.
