PDP Governors Meet in Zamfara to Strategize Ahead of National Convention

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other party leaders gathered in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, on Monday for a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening the party ahead of its forthcoming National Convention.

The host, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, received his colleagues under the umbrella of the PDP Governors’ Forum. Discussions at the meeting focused on pressing national issues including security, the state of the nation, democratic governance, and ways to reposition the PDP for future political challenges.

At the end of the deliberations, a communiqué was issued, after which the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum addressed the media.

Those in attendance included Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba.

Also present were members of the party’s Board of Trustees led by the chairman, alongside other senior stakeholders of the PDP.

Governor Lawal, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to his colleagues and party leaders for honoring Zamfara with their presence, describing the state as “the land of farming” and thanking them for their commitment to the unity and progress of the PDP.
