Enugu, October 14, 2025 — Governor Peter Ndubusi Mbah of Enugu State has formally announced his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the need for fair representation, alignment with national reforms, and stronger partnership to advance the interests of his state and region.

In a public address, Governor Mbah thanked the people of Enugu, noting their unwavering support over the past 28 months and highlighting the significant progress achieved under his administration. He pointed to milestones including the near completion of Smart Green Schools, the establishment of primary healthcare centers in all 260 wards, a dramatic reduction in crime, and improvements in maternal and child health outcomes. He also referenced enhanced security systems, restored water supply, over 1,000 kilometers of paved roads, substantial growth in internally-generated revenue, and the revitalization of key infrastructure including the International Conference Centre and Enugu Air for domestic and regional connectivity.

Governor Mbah emphasized that the move to the APC is not motivated by personal interest or resentment, but by a commitment to principles of transparency, fairness, and people-centered governance. He stated that the decision was made collectively with the political family of Enugu State, including members of the National Assembly, the State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, councillors, and over 80 percent of party executives.

He expressed confidence that joining the APC would provide a stronger platform to advance Enugu’s development agenda and ensure that the state’s voice is heard at the federal level. Governor Mbah highlighted his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision, praising the President for his bold and transformative reforms aimed at decentralizing opportunity, strengthening local governance, expanding healthcare and education, and empowering youth through programs like the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, which targets 8.8 million Nigerians across 8,809 electoral wards.

The Governor reassured citizens that ongoing projects and initiatives would continue without disruption. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to completing schools, hospitals, roads, and other services as planned, while maintaining a focus on results and service to the people rather than political allegiances.

Governor Mbah concluded by thanking President Tinubu for his support, pledging renewed dedication to delivering tangible benefits to the people of Enugu, and calling for continued trust and engagement from his constituents.
