In a significant show of unity and party solidarity, the Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Governor Seyi Makinde at the Oyo State Government Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, ahead of the party’s much-anticipated National Elective Convention, tagged #Ibadan2025, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The delegation, led by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, praised Governor Makinde for his stabilizing influence and unyielding commitment to strengthening internal harmony within the PDP, describing him as a unifying figure who has guided the party through turbulent political waters.
“Governor Makinde has been the anchor of stability in our great party. His visionary leadership and dedication to inclusivity have not only strengthened the PDP but have radiated across the nation,” Dr. Aziegbemi stated.
He emphasized that the upcoming #Ibadan2025 Convention will serve as a turning point for the PDP, setting the tone for renewed leadership and strategic preparations toward reclaiming power in the 2027 general elections.
The chairmen—drawn from both PDP-controlled and opposition states—commended Makinde’s efforts in promoting transparency, bridging divides, and steering the party toward unity despite internal challenges.
“In the face of adversity, Governor Makinde has stabilized our ship, ensuring that #Ibadan2025 becomes a reality and a pathway to victory in 2027,” the Forum declared.
In a joint resolution, the Forum of State Chairmen expressed unanimous support for the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Amb. Umar Damagum, pledging full cooperation with all party organs to guarantee a successful and credible convention.
They further urged PDP members, supporters, and Nigerians at large to rally behind the #Ibadan2025 project, describing it as a defining opportunity to reclaim Nigeria’s democratic destiny from what they termed “the failed leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”
