Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has added new honours to his growing profile as he was decorated as the Grand Patron of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals in Osun State and also as the Pioneer Patron of Forensic Guards Nigeria and Forensic Ambassadors Africa. The twin investitures, held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo on Thursday, drew dignitaries, security officials, and civil society stakeholders who came to celebrate the Governor’s recognition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Adeleke described the honours as both a privilege and a call to greater responsibility. He emphasized that road safety transcends policy discussions, noting that “behind every accident lies a family in grief and a community in pain.” He highlighted his administration’s commitment to supporting the FRSC and other stakeholders to drastically reduce preventable deaths and injuries on Nigeria’s roads. The Governor praised the courage and sacrifice of FRSC officers and Special Marshals, acknowledging their daily risks in saving lives and maintaining order, and pledged stronger state collaboration to improve road infrastructure, strengthen transport regulation, and deepen partnerships with security and emergency agencies.
The Governor underscored his role as Patron as an obligation to promote road safety values, support enforcement measures, and encourage behavioural change among citizens. He expressed gratitude to the FRSC leadership for the recognition and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him through advocacy and practical actions.
In his remarks, the Osun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Leye Adegboyega, commended Governor Adeleke’s commitment to road safety reforms and infrastructure renewal, which he said informed his selection as Patron of the Special Marshals. He noted that road crashes remain a pressing public health challenge but expressed confidence that under Adeleke’s leadership, Osun would continue to experience a decline in accident rates. Adegboyega assured the FRSC’s full cooperation with the state government to realize safer roads and stronger communities, stressing that the Governor’s leadership sets an example of prioritizing safety in governance.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of Forensic Guards Nigeria and Forensic Ambassadors Africa, Ambassador Abraham Kwaghfan, described Governor Adeleke as a trailblazer whose strides in education, security, and youth empowerment had distinguished him as a visionary leader. He explained that the Governor’s investiture as the first Patron of both forensic organisations provided a strong institutional backbone for their advocacy in promoting forensic science in governance, security, and justice delivery. He charged the Governor to continue being a voice for safer societies and credible systems, expressing confidence that under his patronage, forensic science would play a bigger role in advancing transparency, justice, and security in Nigeria.
The ceremony ended on a note of optimism, with stakeholders agreeing that Governor Adeleke’s new roles as Patron would not only strengthen road safety initiatives in Osun but also advance the integration of forensic practices into governance and security frameworks nationally. For Adeleke, the honours symbolize more than ceremonial recognition; they represent a challenge to translate leadership into safer roads, stronger institutions, and more secure communities for the people of Osun State and beyond.
