ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of Dr. Christopher Kolade, describing him as one of Nigeria’s intellectual treasures and a custodian of corporate governance and human resources excellence.

Dr. Kolade, who passed away at the age of 92, held prominent positions in Nigeria’s corporate and public sectors, including serving as Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. He was also a key figure at the Lagos Business School and a longstanding advocate for transparency and accountability in governance.

“He was among the finest of men—exceptionally brilliant, statesmanly, diligent, and of unimpeachable integrity,” President Tinubu said in a statement issued on October 9, 2025.

President Tinubu highlighted Dr. Kolade’s humanitarian efforts, particularly through the Christopher Kolade Foundation, which supported sickle cell patients and other vulnerable groups.

“Dr. Kolade’s passing is agonising, yet we must celebrate his life and legacy. He lived an exemplary life and immortalised himself in his uncommon service to our nation and humanity,” the President added.
“He will remain an inspiration for us and for many generations, representing the true Nigerian—selfless and resilient.”

Dr. Kolade’s contributions to Nigeria spanned decades, leaving indelible marks in both the corporate world and public service, earning him recognition as a statesman, boardroom icon, and patriot.
