The Kano State Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alh. Umar Farouk Ibrahim, has commended the State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) for its exemplary performance in transforming the pharmaceutical sector. Speaking when he received the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), who paid him a courtesy visit in his office, the SSG praised the Director-General of DMCSA, Pharm. Gali Sule, and the management team for their transparency, dedication, and commitment to improving access to quality medicines and strengthening the drug supply chain across the state.
The SSG highlighted some of the agency's key milestones, including the payment of more than 80 percent of inherited debts, revamping of the state's central drug warehouse and distribution system, partnerships with health facilities to ensure consistent drug availability, and implementation of a digital inventory management system to enhance efficiency and reduce wastage. These achievements demonstrate the agency's commitment to delivering safe, affordable, and accessible medicines to the people of Kano State.
The SSG assured continued government support to the agency to expand its impact and maintain the gains recorded in the health sector. He commended the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria for its dedication to public health and pledged the administration's commitment to enhancing the pharmacy profession's role within the state's health architecture.
The National President of PSN, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, thanked the state government for its support and emphasized the critical role pharmacists play in achieving universal health coverage, ensuring drug safety, and supporting public health initiatives. He sought stronger collaboration between the Kano State Government and the PSN to enhance access to quality medicines and strengthen healthcare delivery systems in the state.
