Kaduna State Governor Welcomes ICAN President

The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has welcomed the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dr. Haruna N. Yahaya, and his delegation on a courtesy visit. The Governor expressed appreciation for ICAN's role in championing ethics, professionalism, and accountability in Nigeria's financial sector.

The Governor highlighted Kaduna State's commitment to transparency and good governance, citing reforms such as joining the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the Infrastructure Transparency Initiative (CoST), adopting IPSAS, and signing the Kaduna Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF) with the UK's FCDO. These initiatives demonstrate the state's dedication to openness, accountability, and sustainable development.

The Governor mentioned the state's partnership with ICAN to train over 100 state accountants in Public Financial Management. A senior-level training programme is set to launch in September to deepen technical skills and promote professional excellence in governance. The Governor expressed appreciation for the Merit Award conferred on him by ICAN at the 2025 Annual Dinner, valuing the honour and reaffirming the state's commitment to partnering with ICAN.

The Governor emphasized Kaduna State's commitment to driving reforms, enhancing capacity, and strengthening financial governance through its partnership with ICAN.
