Delta Gov’s Aide, Ossai Ovie Success, Under Fire Over ‘Personal Offer’ to Comfort Emmanson

Published on 17 August 2025 at 17:10

The Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Ossai Ovie Success, is currently facing heavy criticism after clarifying that his offer to Comfort Emmanson was a “personal gesture” and not from the Delta State Government.

Ossai had earlier claimed he extended the support to Comfort — who was recently caught in controversy — as an act of kindness to help her heal and reintegrate into society. He also offered her a ticket to attend the 3rd Edition of the Delta Social Media Summit scheduled for August 28, 2025 at the Maryam Babangida Leisure Park, Asaba.

But what should have been a harmless goodwill post has now snowballed into a full-blown online drag session, with critics tearing him apart for allegedly having ulterior motives.

Ossai’s Defense

In his own words, Ossai stated:

“My offer to Comfort Emmanson is a personal gesture, not affiliated with the Delta State government. Considering the trauma she experienced, I felt compelled to act. My intention is to promote kindness and rehabilitation, not to condone unruly behavior. I am sorry if my kind gesture has been misconstrued as it now appears.”

Unfortunately, instead of sympathy, his explanation seems to have poured petrol on the fire.

Netizens Clap Back

The comment section of Ossai’s post turned into a comedy show, as Nigerians refused to buy into his explanation. Many accused him of being motivated by lust rather than love, pointing out inconsistencies in his “personal” generosity.

From accusations of secret motives, to questions about inflated job offers, and even jokes about his own household, Nigerians left no stone unturned in dragging the aide.

The Big Picture

While Ossai insists that his actions stemmed from compassion, many Nigerians see it as a case of “bwess before progress”. The scandal highlights the fine line between humanitarian gestures and political optics, especially when the public already views government officials with suspicion.

For now, one thing is clear: Ossai’s attempt to do “damage control” has only earned him more mocking than mercy.
