The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has congratulated participants of National Defence College (NDC) Course 33 following their graduation ceremony held in Abuja. He particularly praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers for upholding the Service’s values of discipline, excellence, and professionalism throughout the intensive programme.

The event marked the conclusion of an 11-month advanced training programme at Nigeria’s premier military institution and Centre of Excellence for peace support operations. A total of 99 participants drawn from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Nigeria Police Force, allied African nations, and international partners successfully graduated, earning the prestigious Fellow of the Defence College (fdc) qualification.

Among the graduands, 12 NAF senior officers distinguished themselves through outstanding performance.

  • Group Captain DU Edet won two top awards – the Senate President’s Award and the CAS Award for the Best Research Paper on Air Operations.

  • Group Captain O Ige received international acclaim, clinching the Brazilian Award for the Best Research Paper in Science and Technology.

Beyond these recognitions, all 12 NAF participants attained the highly respected fdc qualification, affirming their mastery in strategic leadership, defence policy, and global security operations.

In his goodwill message, Air Marshal Abubakar commended the officers for sustaining the NAF’s tradition of intellectual and professional excellence. He emphasized that their achievements reflect the Service’s investment in human capacity development and readiness to meet Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The CAS also extended gratitude to the families of the graduands, acknowledging their sacrifices and support throughout the rigorous programme.

He reaffirmed that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to nurturing leaders of intellect, courage, and foresight, in line with its vision of becoming a highly professional and agile force capable of defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and contributing to global peace.
