
The Office of the First Lady has reaffirmed its commitment to women empowerment and community service through active support of the Rotary Club of Benin Metropolitan. Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office, attended the formal installation of Rtn. Elizabeth Ativie as the 20th President of the Club at the Imperial Xtra Event Center, Irhirhi, Benin City.
Represented at the ceremony by Pharmacist Kenny Okojie, Mrs. Anani extended warm congratulations to Rtn. Ativie, praising her exemplary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to service. She described Ativie’s new role as a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding contributions to the community and pledged continued collaboration to advance the welfare and development of Edo State.
In her acceptance speech, Rtn. Elizabeth Ativie expressed gratitude to God and welcomed guests, award recipients, new Rotarians, and their families. She highlighted the Club’s ongoing projects, which focus on basic education, literacy, disease prevention, maternal and child healthcare, water hygiene and sanitation, peacebuilding, youth empowerment, community economic development, and microcredit initiatives for widows.
Outgoing President Rtn. Oghosa Jackson Godson commended the Club’s achievements and expressed confidence in Ativie’s ability to build on its legacy. The event also featured a fundraising initiative to support the Club’s humanitarian efforts, as well as the induction of new members dedicated to selfless service. Distinguished individuals, including Mrs. Anani, Edo State Deputy Governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Speaker Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor, and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, received meritorious awards for their contributions to humanitarian services.
