The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has hailed the extraordinary accomplishment of Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Akpevwe Ogboru, popularly known as Tracta 2, who successfully completed a 35-day motorbike journey from Nigeria to Belgium. She arrived at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels at exactly 12:47 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, to a warm and jubilant reception.

Ogboru began her solo expedition on August 1, covering approximately 10,265 kilometers across two continents and ten countries. The journey, themed “Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research”, was designed not only as a test of endurance but also as a powerful advocacy drive for gender inclusivity, girl-child empowerment, and cross-border mobility.

According to the NCS, her feat symbolizes the resilience and determination of Nigerian women who continue to break barriers across various fields. It also draws global attention to the importance of cultural exchange, connectivity, and research across borders.

At the embassy in Brussels, her arrival was celebrated as a moment of national pride, highlighting Nigeria’s spirit of excellence and the ability of its citizens to achieve remarkable milestones on the world stage.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, praised Ogboru’s bravery, describing her as a beacon of inspiration for Customs officers, Nigerians, and the international community. He said her accomplishment reinforces the Service’s commitment to resilience, innovation, inclusivity, and positive nation-building.

“Her remarkable odyssey is not just a personal achievement but a statement of courage and vision that transcends boundaries. We urge Nigerians, especially women and young people, to draw inspiration from this pioneering effort,” Adeniyi stated.

As Ogboru prepares for her return trip to Nigeria, her landmark journey is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties, project a positive national image, and spark renewed conversations around empowering women and children in Africa and beyond.
