The Coordinator, Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has lauded the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) National Scholarship Programme, describing it as a powerful driver of educational empowerment and national development.
Speaking during the RHI Midterm Assessment and Interactive Session with National Scholars at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Mrs. Anani underscored the life-changing impact of education in breaking poverty cycles, bridging societal gaps, and unlocking human potential.
She noted that the initiative was designed to transform lives and secure brighter futures for young Nigerians.
“Empowerment through education is at the core of our mission. By providing our students with the tools and resources they need to succeed, we are not only transforming their lives but also shaping the future of our society. Education has the power to break cycles of poverty, challenge stereotypes, and unlock potential. As we invest in the education of our young people, we are investing in a brighter future for all,” Mrs. Anani said.
The Edo First Lady’s Office praised Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for spearheading the Renewed Hope Initiative, citing the story of Miss Eigbirenmonlen Sonia, a 300-level Zoology student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, as a shining example of the programme’s impact.
Mrs. Anani further emphasized the initiative’s role in empowering women and youths, expressing confidence that its benefits would leave a lasting mark on society.
“I am delighted to see a student from Edo State benefit from this initiative spearheaded by the wife of the President. It is a testament to the administration’s commitment to empowering citizens, particularly women and youths, across the country. I have no doubt that this programme will continue to bring hope and positive change to our people,” she added.
Some beneficiaries, including Miss Eigbirenmonlen, expressed gratitude to the First Lady for the life-changing opportunity.
The highpoint of the event was the disbursement of the third tranche of scholarship funds, with 47 students each receiving ₦1 million and a brand-new laptop to support their academic pursuits.
