
His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, attended the inaugural Lagos State Waterfront Summit, themed “Pressure on the Lagoon: The Lagos Experience.”
The summit focused on the critical role of Lagos Lagoon in driving trade, supporting transportation, and shaping the cultural identity of the city. Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the growing pressures on the lagoon from pollution, unregulated activities, and rapid urban expansion, stressing the need for urgent and coordinated action.
“This summit is about protecting something that belongs to all of us and ensuring it continues to serve future generations,” the Governor stated. He further emphasized that safeguarding the lagoon is a shared responsibility, calling for collective commitment from government, private stakeholders, and residents to manage and protect Lagos’ waterfronts effectively.
