EFCC Commends Eagle’s Brain for Exposing Kaduna School Fraud, Leads to Project Recovery

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has lauded the Eagle’s Brain Youth Transformative and Development Initiative for its pivotal role in exposing the misappropriation of a federal constituency project in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The intervention resulted in the recovery of a fully built school for the local community.

The commendation took place at the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Office, highlighting the critical role of citizen engagement in supporting anti-graft agencies. The case traces back to March 2025, when Eagle’s Brain submitted a comprehensive report to both the EFCC and the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing Abdulhadi Abubakar, a prominent official, of diverting resources intended for a public school to his privately-owned Fatima Academy.

Following a thorough investigation, the EFCC confirmed the allegations, revealing that government-procured materials meant for the public school had been redirected to develop Fatima Academy, leaving the original project abandoned. Under growing pressure, the proprietors of Fatima Academy formally handed over the school to the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on July 30, 2025.

At the recognition event, the EFCC Kaduna Director praised Comrade Daniel Ejembi and the Eagle’s Brain team, stating, “This is how the fight against corruption should work: vigilant citizens and responsive institutions. Eagle’s Brain has set a sterling example of active citizenship,” while commending their dedication, accuracy, and focus.

Responding, Comrade Ejembi expressed gratitude to the EFCC for ensuring justice prevailed, adding, “Without the EFCC completing this investigation, our effort would have been useless. What you have done shows that there is hope for a better Nigeria.” He further assured that Eagle’s Brain would continue its monitoring efforts and urged public officials to uphold integrity, warning that the organization would remain steadfast in exposing corruption.

The successful recovery and handover of the school in Sabon Gero, Chikun LGA, have restored educational access for the community, serving as a testament to the power of civic vigilance and institutional accountability.
