The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering peace, humanitarian support, and sustainable economic development through stronger partnerships with the European Union.
Governor Alia gave this assurance during a meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, where discussions focused on ongoing EU interventions in the state and future opportunities for collaboration. He expressed profound appreciation to the EU for its timely humanitarian support to displaced families in Benue, noting that such interventions have provided relief and strengthened efforts toward durable solutions and social protection.
Highlighting the state’s vast agricultural and economic potential, the governor stressed that Benue remains a key hub for food production and investment in Nigeria. He extended a formal invitation to the EU Ambassador and his team to visit the state, describing it as an opportunity to witness firsthand the resilience of the people and the progress being built through government and community-driven initiatives.
Governor Alia affirmed that partnerships with international bodies such as the EU are central to his administration’s vision of rebuilding Benue and restoring livelihoods, especially for communities most affected by insecurity and displacement. He emphasized that the government is determined to provide an enabling environment for investments while prioritizing the welfare of citizens through inclusive policies and development programmes.
The meeting further reinforced the mutual commitment of both the Benue State Government and the European Union to strengthening peace-building measures, supporting vulnerable populations, and unlocking the state’s economic opportunities for long-term growth.
