The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Citizens and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC) in the fight against internet fraud, with a particular focus on youth enlightenment and leadership development.

Olukoyede made this known on Thursday, October 2, 2025, when the Director-General of CLTC, Rinsola Abiola, led her management team on a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. He emphasized that the EFCC has maintained a long-standing relationship with the Centre and expressed readiness to deepen that partnership in tackling internet fraud and nurturing responsible future leaders.

“We have a long-standing relationship with you. We are ready to build on that. For us here, in whatever we do, excellence is top priority and I believe your services will continue to be improved upon. I appreciate your desire for collaboration in the area of enlightenment in schools because we live in a society where peer pressure is a serious trend with often bad orientation from home, so there is need to go back to the value of letting our people know that integrity pays,” Olukoyede stated.

The EFCC Chairman further disclosed that the Commission was establishing a cybercrime centre aimed at addressing internet fraud comprehensively. He highlighted the Commission’s existing “Integrity Clubs” in secondary schools, designed to instill values of honesty and responsibility among young Nigerians, noting that collaboration with CLTC would further strengthen these initiatives.

On her part, Rinsola Abiola commended Olukoyede for his leadership and the EFCC’s achievements in the fight against corruption and financial crimes. She said the CLTC shares a common mandate with the Commission in promoting integrity, discipline, and leadership values among youths.

“EFCC is one of our strategic partners. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to train your cadets. I commend you for showing what is possible with good leadership and staff development. Our mandate at CLTC is to build and train, especially to positively impact young people. Cybercrime remains a major issue among youths, and we are committed to training them on the dangers while instilling leadership values,” Abiola said.

She added that the Centre is also working on programs for young offenders to help reintegrate them into society after rehabilitation, stressing that building integrity from a young age remains critical to addressing the roots of cybercrime.

Both parties concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to scale up joint initiatives that focus on prevention, awareness, and leadership training as effective tools in the broader fight against internet fraud and corruption in Nigeria.
