The Abraham Honourable Political Movement (AHPM) has called on rural communities in Akwa Ibom State to recognize the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) as a critical tool for promoting democracy, accountability, and good governance.

Speaking at a PVC sensitization and awareness rally over the weekend across Ika and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas, the leader of the movement, Hon. Abel Abraham, urged residents to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration and PVC collection exercise.

Addressing residents at the Etim Ekpo Local Government Secretariat, Abraham emphasized that owning a PVC is more than an expression of political enthusiasm. He described it as a means to shape leadership and demand transparency from elected officials.

“Today, we educate our people on the true power of owning a PVC. It empowers you to decide who governs you and holds those in power accountable,” Abraham said.

He lamented that many grassroots supporters mistakenly believe that verbal support for politicians is sufficient, stressing that without a PVC, such efforts have no tangible impact during elections.

“Many believe that being vocal about their preferred candidates is enough. But without the PVC, all that canvassing amounts to nothing,” he added.

During the event, Abraham also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno, describing their leadership as pivotal to the developmental progress in the nation and the state.

“We stand united behind President Tinubu, our respected Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno. Their continued leadership guarantees the ongoing advancement of our communities,” he stated.

Representing the youth, Mr. Victor Akpan commended the movement for bringing the sensitization campaign to the grassroots and pledged to mobilize residents to register and collect their PVCs.

“We appreciate Hon. Abel Abraham and his team for shedding light on this important issue. We commit to ensuring that our people register and collect their PVCs,” Akpan assured.

The rally, themed “One Million Man March,” began at the Ika Local Government Council Secretariat, progressed through major streets, and concluded at the Etim Ekpo Local Government Secretariat Roundabout. The event drew enthusiastic participation from residents, community leaders, and youth groups, marking a significant step toward enhancing civic awareness and voter readiness in Akwa Ibom State.

The report is based on information gathered directly from AHPM’s public engagement and statements by Hon. Abel Abraham during the awareness rally.
