Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, on Wednesday declared open the 13th Kaduna State Council on Health, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna.

The two-day event, themed “Global Health Security: Strengthening Health Systems for Resilience in Kaduna State,” brought together members of the State Executive Council, heads of health agencies, development partners, and other key stakeholders in the health sector.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Balarabe reaffirmed Governor Uba Sani’s administration’s unwavering commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and responsive health system capable of addressing public health challenges effectively.

“A strong and resilient health system is not a luxury; it is a lifeline,” the Deputy Governor emphasized. “Our government will continue to invest in health financing, innovation, technology, and human capacity to ensure every citizen has access to quality healthcare.”

Dr. Balarabe commended development partners for their continued collaboration with the Kaduna State Government in advancing the state’s health agenda, noting that such partnerships remain vital in strengthening health security and service delivery.

As part of the opening ceremony, the Deputy Governor launched several key policy documents developed by the State Ministry of Health, including the Health Sector Strategic Blueprint and other operational frameworks designed to guide the effective implementation and coordination of health initiatives across the state.

She described the State Council on Health as the highest decision-making and policy formulation body for the sector, serving as a critical platform for reviewing progress, addressing challenges, and developing actionable strategies toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Kaduna State.

“This Council provides an opportunity for collective reflection and collaboration,” Dr. Balarabe said. “Together, we can strengthen our systems to ensure Kaduna remains at the forefront of public health resilience in Nigeria.”

The two-day meeting is expected to conclude with the adoption of resolutions and policy recommendations to guide the next phase of health reforms in the state.
