Court Remands Four Suspects Over Murder of Irewole LG Chairman

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of four suspects arraigned for the killing of the late Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Remi Abass, at the Kuje Custodial Centre.

The suspects, arraigned on Wednesday by the Nigeria Police Force, face charges of terrorism, illegal possession of firearms, and murder. The late Abass was reportedly killed on February 17, 2024, in Ikire, Osun State.

The accused are:

Abubakar Kabiru (also known as Jeje, 38)

Tajudeen Opeyemi (30)

Akeem Agbomojo (28)

Akintoye Olayemi (40)


All four suspects are from Ikire and Apomu in Osun State.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered the remand of the suspects and adjourned the case to December 4, 2025, for hearing, following agreement by counsel on both sides.
