Activist Omoyele Sowore has revealed that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, deployed police lawyers to prevent the FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest scheduled to hold at Aso Rock Villa on Monday.
Sowore stated that the police filed an ex parte motion in the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to stop the protest. However, he said the motion was rejected by Justice Umar, who refused to grant the order and instead instructed that Sowore be formally served notice, adjourning the matter to Tuesday for a proper hearing.
According to Sowore, the court’s decision marks a victory for the right to peaceful protest and underscores the importance of due process in matters involving public demonstrations.
