The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, has dismissed as false a report alleging that some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a meeting to persuade Nyesom Wike to contest for President in 2027.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 17, 2025, Olayinka described the report, which was circulated by an online platform he said is notorious for falsehood and blackmail, as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.”

“As far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031,” Olayinka declared.

He said it was shameful that those he referred to as “pull-Wike-down elements” could not reason beyond what he called “kindergarten tactics,” adding that “they need better brains to think for them.”

According to him, the only meeting that took place on August 20, 2025, was that of PDP stakeholders from Southern Nigeria, convened to discuss internal party issues ahead of a planned Lagos meeting on August 21. He clarified that the outcome of that legitimate meeting was publicly disclosed through a press statement issued by key party stakeholders and widely reported in national media.

Olayinka emphasized that attempts to twist the facts were mischievous and aimed at tarnishing the image of the FCT Minister.

“The person and character of the FCT Minister is known to everyone — he does not do anything in hiding,” Olayinka said.
“He has made it clear that from now till 2031, he stands firmly on the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

He reaffirmed that the FCT Minister remains focused on delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda, working tirelessly to transform the Federal Capital Territory into a world-class city through massive infrastructure renewal and development.
