Kano, Nigeria — A Magistrate Court in Kano has issued a directive to the Kano State Hisbah Board to ensure that popular TikTok content creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, formalize their marriage within 60 days, following a series of videos posted by the duo that were described as “indecent.”

The court’s ruling comes after public complaints and moral concerns raised over the pair’s frequent online interactions, which many deemed contrary to Islamic values and societal norms.

In its decision, the court instructed the Hisbah Board to supervise and facilitate the marriage process between the two influencers in accordance with Islamic and cultural provisions. The ruling, according to court officials, is aimed at addressing “moral decadence” and setting a corrective example for the youth who use social media platforms to promote content deemed inappropriate.

This development has stirred widespread debate across Kano and beyond, with opinions divided between those who see the court’s action as a moral safeguard and others who view it as an intrusion into personal freedoms and creative expression.

Neither Idris Mai Wushirya nor Basira Yar Guda has made a public statement regarding the court order at the time of filing this report.
