The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in ongoing security operations, with multiple arrests made across the state targeting armed robbery, kidnapping, cybercrime, and other criminal activities. The developments were disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, during a press briefing, highlighting the command’s intensified intelligence-driven approach.

On 22 November, thirteen suspects aged between 19 and 24 were apprehended in the Barnawa area for their alleged involvement in a spate of armed robberies and handset-snatching incidents. The suspects reportedly confessed to targeting hotels and residential properties, including Freedom Hotel, No.10 Hotel Barnawa, and Gashash Estate. Recovered items included a pump-action rifle, cutlasses, a Volkswagen vehicle, laptops, mobile phones, and plasma televisions. Police investigations are ongoing to identify additional accomplices and handlers of stolen property.

In a separate operation on 17 November, seven individuals were arrested in Nunbu Bashayi, Sanga Local Government Area, following intelligence linking them to a kidnapping incident. The suspects allegedly demanded ransom from their victims before being tracked and detained. Security operatives continue to pursue other members of the syndicate and recover the weapons used in the crime.

Earlier, on 6 November, five suspects, including one identified as Haruna Umar, also known as “Kada,” were arrested for alleged involvement in armed robbery, sexual assault, and cyber extortion. The group is accused of stealing mobile devices, ATM cards, and other valuables, while using recorded videos of sexual assaults to extort money. Authorities confirmed that one suspect remains at large.

Additionally, nine individuals were apprehended in connection with an armed robbery along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway, during which a commercial tricycle rider was reportedly drugged by the assailants.

The police also announced the arrest of 44-year-old Adamu Abubakar Muhammed, who allegedly impersonated a licensed medical doctor at a hospital in Kawo, treating eight patients without proper credentials.

CP Muhammad emphasized that these arrests are part of ongoing, intelligence-led operations conducted in collaboration with the military, the Department of State Services, and other security agencies. He called on members of the public to provide credible information to support law enforcement efforts.

All suspects remain in police custody and will be charged in court upon completion of investigations, reflecting Kaduna State’s commitment to cracking down on criminal syndicates and enhancing public safety.
