Authorities are working to verify the source and circumstances of the report, noting the importance of distinguishing verified information from rumours circulating online and on social media.
The police command urged citizens to rely solely on official communications from the Ogun State Police while the inquiry is ongoing. “The Command remains committed to the safety of all residents and the maintenance of law and order across Ogun State,” the statement read.
Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified reports, especially those involving high-profile public figures, as such misinformation can cause unnecessary panic and confusion.
