The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of 16 suspects in connection with events surrounding a controversial traditional festival in Ozoro, while maintaining that no formal report of rape has been received as investigations continue.
The incident, which occurred during the Alue-Do festival in Delta State, drew widespread national attention after videos circulated on social media showing groups of men harassing women in crowded public spaces. The footage triggered public outrage, with many describing the gathering as a “rape festival,” a characterisation authorities have strongly disputed based on current evidence.
