Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt, has shared a testimony during a recent sermon that has sparked widespread discussion among Christian communities and online audiences. The story, rooted in an event from 1997, highlights faith, sacrifice, and unexpected divine provision.
Ibiyeomie recounted that early in his ministry, his monthly salary was only five thousand naira. He explained that, despite having immediate family needs, he felt a spiritual prompting to give the entire salary to God. Trusting that direction, he surrendered the money, setting it aside rather than using it for household expenses.
According to Ibiyeomie, shortly after this act of obedience, a woman appeared at his home carrying twenty-five thousand naira, along with bags of rice, beans, and a crate of eggs. She said she was led to provide support to the pastor, and the gifts came as a direct response to his sacrificial giving. Ibiyeomie described the moment as a divine turnaround, demonstrating that trust and obedience to God can yield blessings far beyond what is given.
The pastor further shared that the woman who delivered the blessings later experienced her own significant breakthrough. Her husband provided her with one million naira the same day and secured a job in Abuja, an event Ibiyeomie framed as a “chain reaction” of divine favor triggered by faith and obedience.
Ibiyeomie emphasized that the story was not just about financial gain but about trusting God even when circumstances seem challenging. He encouraged believers to act in faith, showing that small acts of obedience can set in motion significant outcomes beyond human understanding.
The testimony quickly gained traction on social media and within religious circles. Supporters praised it as evidence of God’s provision and a lesson in the power of sacrificial giving. Many shared the story widely, highlighting its message of faith, trust, and divine multiplication.
At the same time, the account has attracted skepticism. Critics questioned the emphasis on material blessings as a measure of spiritual favor, warning that such messages might create unrealistic expectations or pressure believers to give beyond their means. Others noted that while testimonies of financial provision are common in Pentecostal teachings, they should not overshadow the broader spiritual lessons of faith, obedience, and character.
Salvation Ministries has a long history of sharing testimonies of healing, provision, and personal transformation. Ibiyeomie’s preaching often emphasizes practical faith and divine intervention in everyday life, and his ministry reaches millions of worshippers both in Nigeria and internationally.
The story has prompted reflection among believers on the relationship between faith, giving, and blessings. For some, it affirms the principle that obedience can unlock unexpected favor. For others, it underscores the need for balanced teaching that acknowledges both spiritual and practical aspects of faith without reducing it to material outcomes.
Ibiyeomie’s testimony continues to generate discussion and introspection within contemporary Christian communities, highlighting ongoing conversations about faith, sacrifice, and the interpretation of divine provision in believers’ lives.
