A serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and a lawyer, Miss Eunice Ameh, has been reported missing in the Federal Capital Territory after she was last seen on Tuesday evening returning home from her workplace in the highbrow Maitama district. Family and colleagues have raised an alarm following her sudden disappearance under unclear circumstances, with no contact established since she left her office on May 6, 2026.
Ameh, who is currently serving her one‑year national service in the FCT, was also working as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd., a company located on Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama that deals in livestock and related value‑added products. According to family sources, she had resumed the position only two weeks before her disappearance. She was last seen at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, heading home after closing from work, and moving toward the junction leading to Life Camp where she resides.
Concerns grew after repeated attempts to reach her through her mobile phones failed, as all her lines remained switched off. Friends and relatives became alarmed when they could not establish contact with her throughout Wednesday night and Thursday morning. A family source told SaharaReporters around 11 a.m. on Thursday, one of her friends alerted the family that Eunice had not returned from work the previous evening, and repeated attempts to reach her had been unsuccessful. The source added that she was meant to partake in what would have been her final Community Development Service as a corps member on Thursday and would have been passing out soon afterwards.
Ameh resides at a corpers' lodge in the Life Camp area, where fellow corps members and residents have also expressed concern over her sudden disappearance. Sources close to the family confirmed that the NYSC authorities and the Nigeria Police Force through the Maitama Division have been informed of the development. The matter was formally lodged after her employers raised the alarm.
As of Friday evening, no individual or group had contacted the family to demand a ransom or make any demands connected to her disappearance. The complete silence has intensified fears that she may have fallen victim to a criminal act.
Friends and colleagues have since circulated a missing person alert across multiple lawyers’ platforms, NBA WhatsApp groups, and social media channels, appealing to members of the legal profession and the general public to assist in locating her. The alert, which carries the hashtag #HelpFindEunice, provides phone numbers for anyone with information.
The missing person alert, which has been shared widely across legal community networks, carries the hashtag #HelpFindEunice and provides phone numbers for anyone with information. Members of the public are also encouraged to report any information to the nearest police station or to the Nigerian Bar Association, which has been made aware of the situation through the alerts circulated on its member platforms.
The disappearance of a young professional in the nation's capital after close of work on a weekday evening has once again highlighted the security challenges that residents, particularly those working late hours, face daily. The route from Maitama to Life Camp traverses several areas of Abuja, and anyone who may have encountered Ameh along this route or in any other location since Tuesday evening is urged to come forward with information. The Nigerian Bar Association has consistently championed the welfare and safety of its members, and the disappearance of a young lawyer underscores the security concerns that legal practitioners face as they go about their daily duties.
As of the time of this report, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command had not commented on the development, and efforts by security agencies to trace her whereabouts were said to be ongoing.
