Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur Priscilla Ojo has opened up about the intense public scrutiny her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux (real name Juma Mkambala), faced in his home country before the couple welcomed their first child.
In a candid interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo revealed that many people in Tanzania presumed her husband was impotent because he had reached the age of 35 without having any children, despite his wealth, fame and previous relationships.
Priscilla, who is also an actress and content creator, explained that the speculation arose largely because many of Jux’s friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry were already fathers or had “baby mamas,” while he remained childless. “In his country Tanzania, people thought he was impotent because he did not have a child or babymama like many of his friends and colleagues,” she said during the podcast. “They were like, ‘Why he is not having kids like his friends?’ Because obviously, he has been in past relationships”.
However, Priscilla defended her husband, describing him as disciplined and intentional about his life choices. “They were questions but he knew when it was time. He is very disciplined. He knew what he wanted. You can roll with certain people and not be like them,” she added.
The couple held their civil wedding in Tanzania in February 2025 before proceeding to Lagos for a traditional and white wedding in April of the same year. In August 2025, they welcomed their first child, a son they named Prince Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, who was born in Canada.
Even after the birth of their son, Priscilla revealed that the hurtful speculation did not completely stop. Some critics claimed the child was born through surrogacy or medical implantation, refusing to accept that Jux had fathered a child naturally.
In a separate interview in April 2026, Juma Jux himself addressed the subject, stating that while it would have been easy for him to have children at any time, he was always deliberate about choosing the right partner and the right timing to start a family. “It was possible for me to have children at any time, like other people, but I was never stressing over not having sired any because I knew I could anytime. For me, having a child is not just anything; it’s a big thing,” the singer explained.
He added that the biggest challenge in building a family was finding a partner who aligns with his values and vision, and that divine guidance played a role in the decision.
