The Ogun State Police Command has announced the reinforcement of proactive security measures across the state, assuring residents of a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration. In a statement issued on Monday, May 25, 2026, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, had ordered the deployment of additional tactical and intelligence assets to all major praying grounds, public gathering areas, markets, motor parks, and vulnerable points across the 20 local government areas of the state.
Babaseyi stated that the command had also intensified stop-and-search operations, confidence-building patrols, and surveillance around critical infrastructure, including places of worship, financial institutions, and major highways. He noted that the measures were part of the command’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that residents could celebrate the Sallah festival without fear of attacks, kidnappings, or other forms of criminal activity. “The Command has emplaced robust security architecture to guarantee a hitch-free celebration,” he said. “Officers and men have been deployed strategically, and we are working in synergy with other security agencies, including the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local vigilance groups.”
The police spokesperson urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines. He also advised worshippers to avoid carrying dangerous weapons to prayer grounds and to comply with all traffic and safety directives issued by security personnel. The command’s proactive posture comes amid heightened security concerns in the South-West, following recent terrorist attacks on schools in Oyo State and bandit incursions into border communities in Kwara and Kogi states. While Ogun has remained relatively peaceful, the police command has maintained that it will not be complacent. “We are leaving no stone unturned. Our men are on red alert, and we are fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation,” Babaseyi added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, also used the opportunity to congratulate the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir and called for mutual respect, tolerance, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies. He reiterated that the command is committed to protecting lives and property and urged citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear. The statement further advised parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards during the festive period to prevent them from being used as tools for criminal activities. The Ogun State Police Command also assured residents that emergency response teams are on standby and can be reached through the command’s previously published emergency contact numbers.
