The Bayelsa State Pensions Board has announced a statewide verification exercise for retirees, scheduled to commence on Monday, July 6, 2026, and run through Friday, September 11, 2026. The board, in a public announcement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Iliemokumo E. Ogregade, urged all retirees to participate in the exercise on the days assigned to their respective Local Government Areas.
According to the notice, retirees are required to come with their pension identification cards. Those whose ID cards have already expired do not need to renew them before the verification exercise. The board also noted that retirees from the nine local government areas in the state have been assigned specific dates.
The Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area is scheduled for Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10. Sagbama Local Government Area will be verified from Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17. Ekeremor Local Government Area follows from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24. Ogbia Local Government Area is slated for Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31. Southern Ijaw Local Government Area will hold its exercise from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7. Nembe Local Government Area is scheduled for Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14. Brass Local Government Area will be verified from Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21. Yenagoa Local Government Area is scheduled for Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28. Finally, spill-over cases will be handled from Monday, September 7 to Friday, September 11.
The board advised all retirees to adhere strictly to the assigned dates for their local government areas to ensure a smooth and orderly exercise.
