Three persons, including a commercial driver, his motor boy, and a wood operator, have been abducted by gunmen along the Okoloke Road axis in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, just hours after local vigilantes rescued two captives in a nearby community. The attack occurred on Sunday afternoon, June 14, 2026, in a bush area near Abewo along the Okoloke Road.

A local source confirmed that the victims are residents of Egbe, a major town in Kogi West, and were travelling when the assailants struck. Their identities have not been released by authorities. The abduction comes less than 24 hours after a successful rescue operation in Odole Odo-Eri, also in Yagba West LGA, where local vigilantes secured the release of a pastor and a woman following a separate abduction incident.

The latest attack has heightened fears along the Okoloke Road corridor, where residents and commuters have faced repeated kidnapping threats. The road serves as a vital link connecting several communities to Egbe and beyond. As of the time of this report, security agencies had not issued an official statement on the incident. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security forces and local vigilante groups.
