The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), in collaboration with the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI), has sealed Westgate Arena Club located at Apostolic Church Close, Olowora, Lagos State, over persistent noise pollution, the state government announced on Monday, June 15, 2026.
The enforcement action, carried out on the directive of the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, is part of the Lagos State Government's sustained efforts to ensure compliance with environmental laws and protect residents from environmental nuisances.
In the course of the operation, the LASEPA enforcement team also sealed several other establishments across different parts of Lagos State following repeated warnings, abatement notices, and persistent non-compliance with environmental regulations. The enforcement exercise was undertaken in response to various environmental infractions, including noise pollution, obstruction of official duties, air pollution, and failure to comply with state environmental regulations.
The sealing of Westgate Arena Club and other facilities is the latest in a series of enforcement actions by LASEPA, which has intensified its crackdown on noise pollution and other environmental violations across Lagos. The agency has previously sealed churches, hotels, lounges, nightclubs, and other establishments for violating noise pollution regulations.
LASEPA's General Manager has previously warned that the agency may take stricter action, including permanent closure, against facilities that persist in breaching noise control laws even after enforcement measures. The agency has also required nightclubs, lounges, bars, and worship centres to obtain permits for events involving amplified sound in the state.
The Lagos State Government has emphasized that environmental laws are not optional and that establishments must implement proper soundproofing measures and adhere to approved noise levels. The latest enforcement action underscores the government's commitment to addressing noise pollution and other environmental violations that affect the quality of life of residents across the state.
As of the time of this report, the management of Westgate Arena Club had not issued a public statement regarding the sealing of its facility.
