The Nigeria Police Force has expressed deep appreciation to the people of Ekiti State for their cooperation, peaceful conduct, and commitment to democracy throughout the governorship election process, commending voters, election officials, stakeholders, and security personnel for their collective efforts in ensuring a peaceful and credible poll.
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the police and other security agencies were delighted by the orderly manner in which the election was conducted across the state, noting that the peaceful atmosphere reflected the maturity and civic consciousness of the people of Ekiti. “We thank the good people of Ekiti State for their patience, resilience, and dedication to democratic values. The peaceful conduct observed throughout the electoral process is a testament to the shared commitment of all stakeholders to the stability and progress of our nation,” the statement read.
The police also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), election observers, political party agents, civil society organisations, and the media for their professionalism and dedication, which contributed to the successful conclusion of the electoral exercise. The Force reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in all parts of the country and reassured Nigerians of its resolve to uphold the rule of law and protect democratic processes.
The Ekiti State Governorship Election, held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, was widely praised by local and international observers for its peaceful conduct, despite isolated incidents of vote-buying and voter intimidation. The police assured the public that all security protocols would remain in place to ensure continued peace and stability in Ekiti State and across the country.
