A 24-hour nightmare ended in triumph for Alhaji Rabe Suleiman, a resident of Roma Village in Suktu District, Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State, after he was rescued by a joint team of police operatives and local hunters from the clutches of armed kidnappers who abducted him in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026. The victim was rescued unharmed later that evening following an intense operation that culminated in a gun battle deep within the Morogma Mountains.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that the rescue operation was triggered by actionable intelligence that led operatives and hunters to the kidnappers' hideout in the rugged terrain of the Morogma Mountains. On sighting the security team, the kidnappers opened fire, but the joint team responded with superior firepower, forcing the abductors to flee into the mountains with suspected bullet wounds. In their haste to escape, the kidnappers abandoned Alhaji Rabe Suleiman, who was found unharmed and immediately evacuated from the scene for medical evaluation.

A search of the area yielded the recovery of a Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, a torchlight, suspected charms, and food items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing suspects. The victim was taken to a medical facility for examination and has since been reunited with his family. The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Umar Hasan, commended the operatives and hunters for their professionalism and bravery, which ensured the victim's safe return within 24 hours.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, also lauded the effective collaboration between police operatives and local hunters, describing their swift and coordinated response as a testament to the power of community partnership in combating crime. He directed that efforts be intensified to track down and apprehend the fleeing kidnappers, assuring residents that the command would not rest until all those responsible for the abduction were brought to justice.

The successful rescue operation has been hailed as a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping in Adamawa State, reinforcing the importance of intelligence-led policing and community collaboration in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
