The arrests were confirmed on Friday, July 10, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in a statement released in Ilorin.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended following discreet intelligence-led investigations that linked them to the kidnapping of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, in Ifelodun Local Government Area. Ejire-Adeyemi said the arrests were part of the command's sustained efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and bring all those connected with the crime to justice. She added that the suspects were being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and kidnapping.

"The relentless pursuit of criminal elements and everyone connected to their activities continues to yield tangible results as operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested two suspects for their alleged roles in facilitating the kidnapping of three persons in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state," Ejire-Adeyemi said. She further disclosed that the suspects are currently assisting the police with useful information as efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend every other member of the criminal syndicate.

Reacting to the development, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, reaffirmed the command's commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations aimed at tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state. "The command remains resolute in advancing the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which is anchored on intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property," Ojo said.

The commissioner urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely, credible, and actionable information, assuring them that every intelligence report received would be professionally harnessed to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

The arrests come amid a broader crackdown on criminal networks in Kwara State, where kidnapping and other violent crimes have continued to pose significant security challenges. The command's intelligence-led approach has yielded results in recent weeks, with the police also recently securing the release of several abducted persons and arresting other suspects linked to criminal activities in the state. As investigations continue, the police have vowed to ensure that all those involved in the abduction are brought to justice.
