Residents of Okun Ekiti community in Ekiti State have reportedly raised concerns over the presence of a group of strangers who allegedly arrived in the area carrying dangerous weapons, prompting community members to demand immediate intervention from traditional and security authorities.

The incident, according to community sources, occurred recently in Okun Ekiti, where residents reportedly became alarmed after noticing the arrival of the group and their alleged possession of weapons. The development caused tension within the community as residents questioned the purpose of their presence and expressed fears over possible security implications.

Following the concerns raised by residents, the traditional ruler of the community was said to have intervened, engaging relevant authorities to address the situation. Security operatives were reportedly deployed, leading to the removal of the group from the community and their escort out of the state.

However, details surrounding the identity of the individuals, where they came from, their intended purpose and whether any arrests were made remain unclear. Security authorities have not released an official statement confirming the incident or providing further information on the matter.

The development comes amid continued efforts by Ekiti State authorities to strengthen security across communities, especially in rural areas and border locations. The state government has repeatedly encouraged residents to report suspicious movements and cooperate with security agencies to prevent criminal activities.

Ekiti State has in recent years increased collaboration between conventional security agencies, local security networks and traditional institutions as part of measures to maintain peace and respond quickly to emerging threats.

Residents are calling for continued vigilance and improved security presence to protect communities from possible threats, while awaiting further clarification from relevant authorities.
