A tragic road accident has claimed the lives of five members of the ECWA Wuse II Church in Abuja, who were travelling to Samaru Kataf in Southern Kaduna to attend the burial of the mother of Mrs Avong. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, 11 July 2026, has plunged the church community and the families of the victims into deep mourning.
According to available information, the delegation was on its way to the funeral when the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a fatal crash. The deceased have been identified as Mrs Naomi Barnabas, Mrs Julie Ladan, Mrs Grace (Gambo) Daniel Sati, Mrs Esther Tukur, and Mrs Theresa S. Gandu. Several other members of the delegation reportedly sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. The exact number of injured persons has not been confirmed, but they are said to be in stable condition.
The accident has sent shockwaves through the ECWA Wuse II Church community, which had gathered to support one of its members during a time of grief, only to be struck by tragedy themselves. The church leadership has not yet issued an official statement, but members of the congregation have been seen gathering to pray for the bereaved families and the injured survivors.
Members of the public have been urged to remember the bereaved families, the injured, and the ECWA Wuse II Church community in their prayers during this difficult time. As the church and families begin the painful process of mourning, the circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear, and authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash. The Federal Road Safety Corps has not yet released an official report on the incident, but road safety officials have urged motorists to exercise caution while travelling, particularly during the rainy season when road conditions can be hazardous.
