The United States Marshals Service arrested controversial social media influencers Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan in Miami, Florida, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, on a sealed warrant as British authorities formally requested their extradition to face dozens of charges including rape, sex trafficking, assault, and offences relating to indecent images of children. The brothers were taken into custody outside the James L. Knight Center in Miami, just moments before Andrew Tate was scheduled to host a bareknuckle boxing event. Footage obtained by TMZ showed officers placing both men in handcuffs and leading them to waiting vehicles.
The arrests come as the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it is bringing a total of 59 charges against the dual U.S.-British citizens, following the receipt of new evidence from Bedfordshire Police. Andrew Tate, 39, faces 42 counts, while his brother Tristan, 37, faces 17 counts. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017. The new charges bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.
Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said in a statement: "We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child". The CPS confirmed it has formally requested the brothers' extradition from the United States.
Andrew Tate faces seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges for offences relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate is charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. Earlier this year, police in Hertfordshire reopened an investigation into rape and sexual assault allegations against Andrew Tate dating back to 2014 and 2015. The brothers also face separate rape and human trafficking allegations investigated by Bedfordshire Police, which covers their hometown of Luton.
Joseph McBride, an attorney representing the Tate brothers, said in a statement that the brothers are innocent and expect to be cleared. "We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free," McBride said. He described the new UK charges as "filth and slander" intended to derail defamation lawsuits filed by the brothers in the U.S..
In addition to the UK charges, the Tates face allegations of trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering in Romania, where they have been based in recent years. In March 2025, Florida opened a separate criminal investigation into the brothers, though the status of that inquiry remains unclear. The brothers, who are vocal supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump, are expected to appear in Miami's federal court early next week. The Department of Justice will unseal the indictment against them at that time. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the arrests were made "pursuant to extradition proceedings" in accordance with treaties and law enforcement agreements.
Andrew Tate, a prominent figure in the "manosphere" network of online communities promoting traditional masculinity and anti-feminism, has amassed over 10 million followers on X. He has been banned from platforms like YouTube, TikTok and Instagram for violating hate speech guidelines. His most widely condemned rhetoric includes comments that women who are sexually assaulted should bear some responsibility for their attacks.
