The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another significant victory in its ongoing battle against economic sabotage, dismantling a suspected pipeline vandalism syndicate and arresting seven suspects in Adamawa State.
The operation was carried out by the Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with the Inspector-General of Police Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives stormed a suspected hideout in Kwarami, located in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of the state, where the suspects were apprehended. According to a statement by the police, the raid led to the recovery of 285 sections of suspected vandalised pipelines, along with six gas cylinders, shovels, and other digging tools believed to have been used to tamper with critical national infrastructure.
The suspects have been identified as Haruna Usman, 28; Haruna Muhammed Sule, 30; Dabus Peter, 38; Ahamad Adamu, 19; Paul Joshua, 49, from Plateau State; Paul Ishiyaku, 48, also from Plateau State; and Sadik Ibrahim, 31, from Gombe State. The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their involvement and to apprehend other members of the syndicate who fled during the operation. The recovered exhibits have been secured as evidence, and the suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
